Restaurant brings jobs boost to Birmingham

40 jobs have been created in Birmingham thanks to a new Bistrot Pierre opening on Gas Street next month.

The rapidly-expanding French restaurant group was inundated with applications for front and back of house roles when it announced it was opening earlier in the year. Now the team is being fully trained in preparation for opening on 1 July.

The restaurant, located in the former headquarters of the Birmingham Canal Company will seat 120 people.

Rob Beacham, co-owner of Bistrot Pierre, said: “The food and drink economy in Birmingham is growing so we were really pleased to welcome such a talented and ambitious team to our family.

“We invest heavily in our staff and all those who were successful in their application are now taking part in our rigorous training programme.

“It’s an exciting time to be opening in Birmingham as the city benefits from major regeneration, a new economic plan and a number of exciting new residential developments in the area.

“We are proud to be restoring one of the city’s most influential buildings that played a major role in the city’s industrial development. Investing in our people is just as important to us as helping to keep the city’s rich heritage alive through the sensitive restoration of such a historic building.

Formally a hub for the city’s transport industry, the building played a major role in the industrial development and was considered the life-blood of Victorian Birmingham.

Rob said: “We’ve been serving authentic French food for more than two decades and we’re thrilled to be opening in Birmingham. We know we have an offering that works and we are always listening to feedback from our customers.”

Bistrot Pierre has grown from strength to strength after school friends Rob Beacham and John Whitehead set up the business more than 20 years ago, the pair have further plans to grow in 2016 and are working towards an opening in Weston-Super-Mare and Altrincham later in the year.
