Smiggle arrives in Aberdeen

An Australian stationary retailer has invested in Aberdeen after opening its first store in the city.

Smiggle, in Bon Accord, opened its doors on 17 June and has experienced a surge in popularity which is expected to continue growing in coming months.

The Melbourne-based company opened its first UK store in London in 2014.

The latest addition to Smiggle’s portfolio sees the chain’s number of UK stores hit 61.

Craig Stevenson, manager of Bon Accord & St Nicholas, said: “The public’s response to Smiggle has been absolutely incredible and it is fantastic to see how busy the store has been since it opened in Bon Accord.

“It is such an eye-catching and quirky addition to the centre and is already becoming a firm favourite with youngsters in the short time it has been open, and we are sure that will continue. It is a huge hit with the public and exceeded our already high expectations.”

John Cheston, managing director of Smiggle, said: “We’re thrilled to have opened a store in Aberdeen. There really is nothing like Smiggle anywhere else on the high street – and it was great to see the public’s reaction when the doors opened on June 17.

“It’s important for us to inject fun into everything we do – from product design to store design, we will always focus on delivering to our fans the most original and playful stationery possible.”
