Jennifer Linton, 26, and Joanna Macdonald, 30, launched Aberdeen hair and beauty salon, Linton & Mac, in the city’s Netherkirkgate in September last year and already boast more than 3000 clients on their books.
In its initial few months in business the salon has already positioned itself in the top 5% of upmarket salons in Aberdeen.
Projecting revenue of £700 a day, Linton & Mac is now taking in on average £2000 per day and is well underway to reaching a turnover of £500,000 in its first year of trading.
Co-owner Jennifer Linton, said: “Taking the leap was the hardest decision for us especially in this difficult climate, however the past 10 months have been a whirlwind and has proven that if you have the right offering in place along with sheer determination you can really make it work.”
The salon has already scooped a total of six business awards, including: Best Aberdeen Business from the Aberdeen Business Awards, the One To Watch at The Look Awards, became regional winners of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy, scored twice at Trend’s Life of Style Awards with Best New Business and Excellence in Hairdressing, and most recently, picked up the Most Promising New Business at this year’s Elevator Awards.
“Not only is it a difficult climate in the North-east, but the hairdressing market is also a very competitive one and so we knew our business plan had to be absolutely sound from the get go,” added Ms Linton.
“Our team has since doubled in size to help us keep up with the demand from our clients and we’ve learned a great deal of business acumen since launching. I’m certain we will continue to learn new skills, and further develop into successful businesswomen.”
