Premier Inn creates 35 jobs in Edinburgh

Premier Inn has opened a brand new £1m hotel in York Place, Edinburgh. The opening has created 35 jobs, with one team member being enrolled on its Apprenticeship Scheme.

Just under a third of the new employees at the hotel were previously long term unemployed and there are ten team members between the ages of 16-24.

The 127-bedroom Premier Inn is situated in the heart of Edinburgh's Leisure Quarter and within walking distance of countless bars, restaurants and shops.

Ailsa Riva, operations manager for Premier Inn sid: "Our first guests have already been welcomed and they love the fresh interior, comfortable beds and delicious breakfast on offer. The team has been busy building relationships in the community and together they have volunteered 140 hours of their time to supporting the Edinburgh Marathon Festival, building a community garden & serving lunch to 100 local homeless people.

“What’s more, they have also raised over £450 for Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital through bucket collections and our community support won’t stop there."

All bedrooms will showcase the company's latest high-spec, modern design with a 40" flat screen TV, luxury king-size bed, a choice of pillows, free WiFi and self-service check-in facilities. Thyme, the British Bar & Grill, is also on site.

With over 730 hotels nationwide, Premier Inn is the UK's largest hotel chain, at more locations than any other hotel chain in the UK. The opening of Premier Inn Edinburgh City Centre (York Place) is part of Premier Inn's expansion plans that will see the company extend its current number of bedrooms UK-wide to 85,000 by 2020.
