London Doctors Clinic (LDC), which prides itself on being ‘a convenient and affordable private London GP’, has raised over £800,000 from crowdfunding.
The company provides access to general practice consultations starting at £55 per session and has six practices across the capital.
It was founded by Dr. Seth Rankin in June 2014, a doctor who previously studied medicine in New Zealand and worked in general practice there and in Australia before coming to London in 1998.
Dr Rankin is now looking to expand the company’s portfolio of clinics and is expecting to reach 10,000 patients over the next six months.
The campaign, which ran on crowdfunding platform Crowdcube, was the first time a private GP practice has sought funding from Crowdcube and proved to be a huge success.
Dr Rankin said: “As demands on the NHS continue to grow we see a huge opportunity to offer convenient access to affordable GPs for UK residents and tourists who want an appointment at a time and place that suits them. The growth of LDC is strong and we are excited about the next phase of development.”
Since commercial launch in November 2015 with a £1m investment from Oakfield Capital Partners in 2015, LDC has treated over 3,000 patients.
Dr Rankin attributes LDC’s growth to the demand from commuters, business travellers and tourists who struggle to get appointments with NHS GPs and want an affordable and convenient alternative.
The company currently has six practices across the capital at London Bridge, Liverpool Street, Oxford Street, Victoria, Waterloo and Kings Cross.
