Pret a Manger launched the pop up store in Soho back in June in a bid to trial new vegetarian recipes and garner feedback from customers.
The firm expected to see sales drop by up to 30% at the store and the project was expected to be an investment (i.e. a loss maker).
Despite this, the pop up store proved a resounding success and what started as a method of trialling new recipes, has led to a new store being added to the Pret portfolio.
Clive Schlee, Pret CEO, said: “12 weeks ago, we opened Veggie Pret as a month-long pop up in Soho. We were so overwhelmed by the public response that we kept it open for the Summer.
“I can now tell you that we've taken the decision to keep it open for ever! And, if we can, to open more Veggie Pret shops in the future.
“I hope we can bring Veggie Pret to more cities in due course. (I have just been told about a well subscribed petition to convert one of our two shops in Cambridge to Veggie.)”
The Soho veggie store received over 20,000 customer comments in the past 12 weeks alone and even received the appraisal of Sir Paul McCartney.
