Founded in 2011 by entrepreneur Julia Stafford, Wine Pantry was launched in a bid to showcase the quality and variety of UK wines.
In 2012 the company opened its first pop up unit at St Pancras International Station before opening the doors of their first bricks and mortar store in 2014.
Over the last few years Wine Pantry has since been recognised for its innovative and dedicated English wine retailing, winning Decanter Magazine’s ‘Specialist Wine Merchant of the Year’ in 2012 and ‘Local Wine Merchant of the Year’ in 2013.
Now the next phase of their expansion is up for completion with the opening of its new 1,200 sq ft warehouse in Borough Market which will offer tastings and events and will also operate as a focused wholesale distribution hub.
“We believe that now is an exciting time for Wine Pantry,” said Julia. “Our offering will soon extend from retail on and off sales at our Devonshire Row premises to hosting tasting and catering events and selling wholesale at Borough Market.
"We aim to be seen by Londoners as well as the drinks trade as synonymous with English wine as well as fine artisan spirits and beers."
Wine Pantry aims to serve the wider English wine industry through its wholesale operation, presenting supply opportunities to vineyards of all sizes.
“We aim to use our existing profile in London and unrivalled network of contacts within the English wine industry to source wholesale from a book of smaller but high quality producers, looking to source opportunities to sell their wines within the London market,” adds Julia.
“This operation, combined with the huge retail opportunities through sales, tastings and events, will make us the go to English wine operation in London.”
