Businesses invited to join Goldman Sachs accelerator

Goldman Sachs is encouraging SMEs to get involved in its ‘10,000 Small Businesses UK’ programme, which has helped generate over £2.1bn in revenue among 933 entrepreneurs since its launch in 2011.

Goldman Sachs is encouraging UK SMEs to register for its free ’10,000 Small Businesses UK’ programme which looks to equip small business leaders with the skills and tools they need to grow their businesses.

10,000 Small Businesses UK is a comprehensive programme of business development and leadership support for small businesses with high growth potential, designed to help them grow.

Piloted in late 2010 and launched in early 2011, to date, 933 entrepreneurs from across the country have graduated from the programme which is led by Goldman Sachs, the Goldman Sachs Foundation and a number of leading UK universities.

The latest research by Goldman Sachs shows the impact of its graduates, who alone collectively produce over £2.1bn of revenue, sustain more than 39,000 jobs in the UK. They’re hoping to now see this figure rise as they take on their newest cohort of SMEs in Spring 2017.

Urban Apothecary London is just one company to benefit from the programme so far. The company was started by Tajinder Banwait from her kitchen table after 10 years in the beauty industry, manufacturing luxury home fragrances and scented candles.

Tajinder has since experienced growth and profitability year-on-year. The brand had come to a crossroads and with this Tajinder applied to the programme before making some important decisions about the businesses future direction.

She said: "The growth we have had has been incredible from the kitchen table to our own premises and manufacturing our own candles. And I’m really excited for the potential for the business now."

For those small business leaders selected to participate, the core of the programme is a high quality, practically-focused business and management education, delivered over 100 hours through a blend of online and in-person residential sessions.

The curriculum has been designed specifically for this programme by world-class international and national experts in entrepreneurial learning.
