Bidvest expands Scottish presence

Bidvest Foodservice has expanded its presence in Scotland after Oban-based family firm, Forteith Foodservice, rebranded to become part of Bidvest Foodservice Scotland.

Forteith Foodservice was set up 60 years ago by Jack Forteith the grandfather of John Forteith, who is now head of business development at Bidvest Foodservice Scotland.

The company is famed for the craft products it supplies, including Scottish salmon, scallops and locally sourced eggs.

Bidvest Foodservice Scotland general manager, Jon Mack, said: “We’re delighted to be rebranding Forteith Foodservice and taking it into the Bidvest Foodservice fold.

“The unique range of products sourced by the company will have even greater exposure to our valued Scottish customers.

“For example, the Colonsay Brewery supplies Forteith Foodservice with its premium craft ales brewed on the West Coast island of Colonsay.

“The island brewery is unique as there are only a few islanders who are legally old enough to drink alcohol and therefore the brewery is keen for caterers to help them consume this wonderful range!”

John Forteith added: “I’m excited to be ushering in a new era for the firm, which we’ve worked hard as a family to build over the past six decades.

“Forteith Foodservice customers will continue to benefit from our locally sourced products, along with the full range offered by Bidvest Foodservice.

“We will continue to support local producers, as well having the bigger backing that comes from being part of a global business.”
