Mackie's expands with new popcorn range

Mackie’s at Taypack is celebrating a successful start to the year after launching its first ever range of popcorn which has already been snapped up by Sainsbury’s.

The company was launched in 2009 as a joint venture between Perthshire potato farmers, the Taylor family and Aberdeenshire based Mackie’s of Scotland.

The two family firms joined forces to create Mackie’s Potato Crisps, which are manufactured in Errol, Perthshire.

Mackie’s Crisps has since experienced rapid growth and is now listed by all major retailers in Scotland as well as having national listing status with Asda.

The company is now hoping its new popcorn range will replicate the success of its potato crisps which are available in around 15 countries worldwide.

George Taylor, managing director for Mackie’s at Taypack, said: “The launch of our new range has been a long time in the making, so we are delighted to see it hit the shelves.

“We are constantly looking to innovate our product offering while emphasising our brand heritage and Scottish roots, and our new popcorn definitely does this.

“Responding to our customers’ demands continues to be a top priority for us and we are excited to see their reaction.”

The four flavours include Scotch Bonnet Chilli Pepper, Butterscotch, Lightly Sea Salted and Sweet & Salted.
