Edinburgh Gin Distillery scores star rating

Family owned Edinburgh Gin Distillery has been awarded a 4 star rating from Visit Scotland for its visitor centre.

The distillery, a partnership between husband-and-wife team Alex and Jane Nicol, has also received an excellence rating on TripAdvisor and has been ranked #16 for things to do in the Scottish capital.

The visitor centre, located on Shandwick Place, offers visitors the chance to discover how gin is made in a working distillery.

Edinburgh Gin also has a long-standing partnership with Heriot Watt University’s MSc in Brewing & Distilling course which seeks to push boundaries, bringing the science of distilling to the fore, which visitors can explore first hand.

Edinburgh Gin's co-founder Jane Nicol said: "Edinburgh Gin is delighted to have received a 4 star rating by Visit Scotland and we have been overwhelmed with the positive response to our distillery tours which are hugely popular with visitors from all over the world.

“Edinburgh Gin is steeped in creativity and innovation, it’s important that visitors are immersed in that as part of their experience.

“From taking a tour or a guided tasting, to trying your hand at making your own, our goal is to educate, excite and libate; all in equal measure. This allows us to welcome visitors who are new to gin and those who see themselves as connoisseurs.”

Manuela Calchini VisitScotland’s regional partnerships director, added: “This unique distillery, set in the heart of the capital, thoroughly deserves its four star recognition.

“In Scotland’s Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design, it is fitting that Edinburgh Gin, who create new and innovative gin products all the time, have achieved this award. “
