Plans lodged for Jedburgh whisky distillery

Plans have been submitted for a £40m whisky distillery near Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders.

Mossburn Distillers, which is also behind the Torabhaig distillery on the Isle of Skye, is planning to build the distillery development near the site of the Jedforest Hotel, Camptown.

As well as the distillery itself, the facility will also include a 200-seat restaurant.

The proposed distillery is set to create around 50 full time jobs and produce millions of bottles of whisky every year.

The plan is one of several in the pipeline for the Scottish Borders which currently has no whisky distilleries.

The planning application has been submitted to Scottish Borders Council with a decision expected in the autumn
