Scottish Home Stores takes on former BHS outlet in Edinburgh

Up to 150 new jobs will be created with the opening of Scottish Home Stores at the former BHS site on Edinburgh’s Prince’s Street.

This new Scottish retail consortium has a temporary lease until the site’s owners are in a position to proceed with plans to develop the building.

A spokesperson for SHS said: "We are very excited to have been given the opportunity to bring life back to such a well-known and loved store.

"We are confident the people of Edinburgh will be pleased not to have such a large building sitting stark and empty, especially over the Festive season.

"The positive feedback from people who have already visited the store has taken us by surprise.

"We are confident, therefore, that both visitors and local people will appreciate the range, quality and pricing of a diverse selection of goods.

"We are offering a broad product range, including attractive and value priced clothing for ladies, gents and children, alongside a range for seniors.

"We also offer a growing homeware department with soft furnishings, bedding and toiletries
Other areas in the store offer footwear, luggage, movie merchandise, Halloween and Christmas party wear.

"Indeed, a Festive highlight will be our massive Christmas shop for cards, wrapping paper, decorations and gifts, along with a huge range of toys."

On the employment opportunities, the spokesperson for SHS added: "We have immediately employed over 50 people and we urgently seek up to 100 more staff to fill a range of opportunities, both full- and part-time for managers, assistant managers, retail supervisors.

"Additionally, we require staff to cover areas of stock management, cleaning, security, merchandising and associated work across all departments.

"We would be delighted to hear from and receive applications from former BHS employees in all departments, especially those who know this massive building inside out!"
