West Coast Estates completes £2m Edinburgh development

Scottish property investment and development company West Coast Estates has completed a key £2m project in Edinburgh.

Previously a car showroom and workshop, West Coast Estates has finished the regeneration of a vacant commercial site on Craighall Road in the city.

The £2m mixed use 14,000 sq ft development comprises a neighbourhood Sainsbury’s which is now open and a children’s nursery accommodating 70 children.

West Coast Estates has identified and developed a number of retail sites for Sainsbury’s over the years for its local network. This latest venture further strengthens the relationship between the two companies.

Director Iftikar Mian said: "We are delighted to have completed this project in Edinburgh. West Coast Estates’s strategy places great importance on revitalising neighbourhoods and mixed-use developments like the one at Craighall Road are a shining example of that.

"It will bring tremendous benefit to the local community by supporting job creation, as well as the provision of retail and childcare services. The importance of this cannot be underestimated and we are proud to have delivered these facilities.

"As this scheme includes valuable amenities and additional residential provision we are confident that it will work hand in hand with bringing new vitality and interest into this area. This milestone marks an important point for us and we feel Edinburgh has huge potential for the type of community developments we are known for."

West Coast Estate’s investment in the project has supported the creation of 18 jobs within Sainsbury’s as well as generating opportunities for future employment within the dedicated nursery facility.
