Alex Salmond launches tourism start-up Scotbreaks

Former first minister Alex Salmond will officially launch new Scottish tourism website Scotbreaks today (21 Oct) at Shieldhill Castle hotel in Biggar.

Scotbreaks is the brainchild of an experienced team of hoteliers, who thought up a website that offered short breaks in Scotland in some of the finest hotels and B&Bs around the country.

The concept of the website is that each week, Scotbreaks will bring a selection of cut-price deals throughout Scotland and these will be ‘live’ for a week from Thursday to Thursday.

There will be a range of B&Bs to castle hotels, city centre breaks, rural retreats, luxury hotels, golf breaks and spa hotels, providing something for everyone.

There will also be six featured deals of the week with additional special offers exclusive to Scotbreaks.

Founder Mary Yuill said: "It’s such an honour to welcome former first minister, the Rt Hon Alex to Shieldhill Castle Hotel in Biggar to launch Scotbreaks.

"His support of our business is invaluable, and we can’t wait for our customers to start enjoying discounted holidays throughout Scotland.

"As well as providing a wide range of accommodations at a variety of price points, we’re proud to also be donating a portion of every deal directly to charity."
