Ethics over aesthetics in Edinburgh clinic

Ethics over aesthetics in Edinburgh clinic

Glasgow entrepreneur Gill Baird has founded Scotland’s only female-owned and operated cosmetic surgery company, as demand for cosmetic surgery procedures rises.

Cosmedicare Cosmetic Surgery brings together some of the country’s leading consultant plastic and reconstructive surgeons, consultant anaesthetists and senior theatre teams to offer cosmetic surgery procedures, using the latest technology, and carried out in a luxurious and private hospital.

Technology is at the forefront of Cosmedicare’s approach and patient experience and the clinic offers the innovative Crisalix 3D patient simulation technology - anatomically accurate simulations of each procedure, allowing patients to visualise post-surgery results and feel confident in the decision making process.

With over 10 years’ experience in the medical aesthetics industry herself, Gill saw a gap in the market for a patient-centred ethics over aesthetics approach to cosmetic surgery with a firm focus on informing, educating and guiding everyone through the entire surgical process.

And Cosmedicare brings together more than 90 years’ combined experience within its consultant level team.

Gill, who achieved a first class MBA in 2015 following the award of Stirling University's Female Leader of the Future Scholarship, started her career in the beauty industry ages just 16 as part of her family business.

She commented on the clinic’s approach: “I wanted to change the face of cosmetic surgery and Cosmedicare was born out of my firm belief that a clinic must focus on the patient journey from start to finish, informing, educating and guiding each person through the entire surgical process.

“When it comes to cosmetic surgery, I also firmly believe in ethics over aesthetics and our team will only offer the most appropriate surgical procedure with the best results tailored to each individual’s unique needs. Initial consultations with one of our consultant cosmetic surgeons, carried out in a hospital, are free of charge too.”

Gill commented on the technology: “Cosmetic surgery is permanent and many patients understandably feel anxious about how they will look post procedure. Our 3D simulation allows patients to really see the before and after – it also allows us to help guide them into understanding what is best for them.

“It really is a fantastic communication tool for both our patients and our surgeons."
