Stockan’s Oatcakes is expanding its range with UK wide listings of its Orkney Beremeal Oatcakes and Thin Orkney Oatcakes.
The company started supplying two Scottish branches of Waitrose over ten years ago, and the continued success has led to Stockan’s now supplying more of its products to stores throughout the UK.
Moira Cairns, business development manager for Stockan’s, said: “Since the launch last year of the Thick Orkney Oatcakes into Waitrose stores in England and Wales, we have enjoyed strong sales and it is the result of this performance that the range is now expanding to include our best-selling Thin Orkney Oatcakes into England and Wales and our award winning Orkney Beremeal Oatcakes UK wide.
“We feel that this range extension will offer shoppers something new and will provide further healthy choice options”.
Godfrey Asare, biscuit buyer and Tracey Marshall, Local and regional buyer, both from Waitrose said: “Local sourcing is a great way to introduce exciting new products into our ranges. We have worked with Stockan’s in Scotland since 2006 when we first opened in Edinburgh and we are delighted that they have now secured a further two national listings with us.
“Waitrose has always had a history of establishing long term relationships with its suppliers, including working collaboratively with local and regional suppliers to delight our customers. Since Stockan’s were introduced to the range in 2006 at a local level and with the one national listing last year, the performance and relationship we've had with them has gone from strength to strength.
“Their products offer us a real point of difference to what we already have in our Savoury Biscuits fixture and so we are delighted to have worked with Stockan’s to bring their amazing oatcakes to more of our customers around the country to enjoy".
All of Stockan’s Oatcakes made with wholegrain oats, contain no artificial additives, preservatives or flavourings and are suitable for vegetarians. The company aims to innovate whilst staying true to its Orkney heritage.
Orkney Beremeal Oatcakes use flour from the ancient grain bere, a barley which is only found in the far North of Scotland and the Hebrides. The bere is grown for and milled by The Barony Mill, Orkney, which still uses traditional milling methods.
