Lidl will welcome a host of new producers to celebrate home-grown Scottish Favourites with premium meats and organic cheeses, as well as favourites like shortbread and whisky.
Across 95 stores in Scotland, the Scottish Favourites in-store promotion will offer a selection of nearly 100 products, giving customers the opportunity to select their favourites from over a million individual items.
With a focus on local provenance, the Scottish event sees Lidl working with seven new suppliers from different regions including Robertson's Fine Foods of Ayrshire, Connage Highland Dairy, and Mackie’s ice-cream.
Brand new to Lidl stores, is the Connage Organic Cheese from Connage Highland Dairy, a small family business run by two brothers and their wives, and new Humphreys & Son's premium sausages from family-owned Robertson’s Fine Foods of Ayrshire.
Callum Clarke, owner of Connage Highland Dairy said of the first-time partnership with Lidl: “As a small, family run business we are proud to have won this contract with Lidl, bringing our delicious, organic Highland delicacy to customers across the country. We operate an organic system which puts animal welfare at the top of the agenda, employ local people and thereby give back to the local Highland community.”
Paul McQuade, Lidl’s head of regional buying for Scotland said: “Scottish Favourites Week is a popular event with our customers as it showcases delicious products with real heritage, at unbeatable prices. At Lidl we are committed to local sourcing, with already 300 Scottish products in stores all year-round, so events like this enable us to work with new suppliers across a breadth of product ranges.”
Additionally, as part of a Great British Favourites promotion, 20 further Scottish product lines will be available across 615 further stores in England and Wales, providing a great opportunity for Scottish suppliers to expand and market their products to a UK audience.
