Scotland House member, Copylab tells BQ about their business and why they recommend Scotland House to others.
What is it your company does, and what makes it special?
Copylab is a communications agency with a sole focus on the financial services industry. We write and create content – from fund reports and brochures to thought leadership and websites – that makes often complex messages compelling and accessible. In the US, Europe and East Asia, we help some of the biggest asset management companies to tell their stories worldwide.
Founded in Scotland in 2006, we have grown to become one of the world’s leading investment communications agencies. People are our sole asset, so we go to inordinate lengths to recruit the best talent – including ex-analysts and fund managers, editors, authors and former financial journalists – and retain them with a progressive, flexible work environment built on trust. We accept less than 15% of our applicants, and we’re proud to say that just four members of staff have left the company since its founding (and three of them have since come back to work for us in some capacity).
Why did you join Scotland House and what do you use it for?
We joined Scotland House mainly because we needed well-located, easily accessible office space in the heart of the city. We use it for staff events, candidate interviews and client meetings, roles which its riverside location, outstanding facilities and welcoming staff make it especially well suited for. Our Scotland-based staff also use the open-plan touchdown facilities in between meetings, and we enjoy attending some of the excellent networking events that the team puts on.
What has Scotland House done for your business?
Besides offering beautiful office space overlooking the Thames, Scotland House has provided us with invaluable exposure to the numerous businesses and trade offices that use it as a gateway to Scotland’s wide array of business opportunities. To take just one example, our presentation at a Scottish Enterprise event generated several leads with trade delegates from as far afield as San Francisco and Singapore.
Why should other Scottish businesses become members?
Gaining recognition in the whirlwind of business in London can be a formidable task at the best of times – which is why a body like Scotland House can be so invaluable to Scottish businesses. With full backing from the Scottish government and Scottish Enterprise, among others, Scotland House acts as an advocate and a one-stop shop for Scottish businesses, as opposed to other workspaces, which offer a purely commercial relationship.
