How to Enter the Awards:
Please complete the application form below in full – on receipt of your submission a member of the awards research team will be in touch to provide you with the full awards criteria and to obtain further information.

You may enter more than one category. Please answer all questions in the space provided.

We recommend you complete the required information in a Word document or similar prior to entry to ensure you maintain an original copy should there be any technical problems with form submission.

Entry Rules:
•    A company may choose to enter more than one award category.
•    On receipt of your application, further information will be requested by a member of our official research team. You will be contacted with full details in advance.
•    All applications must be submitted by Friday 29th January 2016, 5.00pm (please note this must be full application rather than initial stage).
•    If your company is selected as a finalist a senior representative must be available to attend the awards ceremony on Wed 23rd March 2016 at the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow. (Winners details will remain confidential until the evening of the awards).

Award Categories
The specially selected judging panel for the awards are looking for nominees to include and demonstrate a number of key elements, such as highlighting their export growth and how the business has managed to sustain that growth, the company’s overall commitment to international business, the key decisions that have been taken to make the company a successful exporter and what new markets and technologies the company have utilized to grow the business over the last 12 months. The awards are open to all businesses with an established operational trading base(s) in Scotland. The 2016 award categories are (please click on the category names for further information):

E-COMMERCE EXPORTER OF THE YEAR

A company that has increased brand awareness and recognition, expanded into new markets, increased sales and efficiency and improved customer service through e-commerce. The winner of this category must be able to demonstrate how they have used e-commerce and trading on-line to significantly enhance their export growth or potential for growth. This would include recognising the sales achievements of those companies that have incorporated bespoke or trade platform software or other back office e-commerce systems into their overall sales strategy. Other factors to consider would be integrated web design and use of digital marketing to secure both existing and new markets resulting in significant export sales growth

MOST ENTREPRENEURIAL EXPORTER OF THE YEAR

A company that has demonstrated entrepreneurial flair within their export strategy. This will be shown through an extraordinary approach to reaching new markets where creativity, innovation and tenacity has resulted in success. The winner of the most entrepreneurial category must be able to demonstrate how they have applied entrepreneurial leadership and flair to their export strategy. This will be shown through exceptional performance in developing unique and innovative ways of enhancing their export activity in new or emerging markets or demonstrating success in more mature markets through differentiation. Particular attention should be made to marketing strategy where results driven growth in markets is evident.

EMERGING START-UP EXPORTER OF THE YEAR

Demonstrate outstanding achievements by a company in any industry that is new to exporting. Businesses are expected to trade at/or above £100,000 turnover and employ staff within their first 12-18 months of trading. The winner of the emerging start-up category must show how they have researched and developed their export strategy and provided a clear indication of their growth potential. They should be able to demonstrate impressive early stage export success in one or more markets and be considered to be ‘one to watch’ for the future. Particular attention should be paid to nominees who have shown early stage growth by exporting to emerging markets or achieved early success in more traditional and competitive markets.

SMALL EXPORTER OF THE YEAR

Recognising outstanding achievements by a company in any industry with a turnover of between £1-£15million. The SME exporter award will recognise a company that has demonstrated outstanding achievements in export growth. This success will be measured by growth in sales and market penetration together with the application of innovative market strategies to extend export potential.

LARGE EXPORTER OF THE YEAR

Recognising outstanding achievements by a company in any industry with a turnover greater than £15million. The large exporter award will recognise a company that has demonstrated outstanding achievements in export growth moving the business to another level. Success should again be measured by growth in sales and market penetration together with the application of innovative market strategies to extend export potential. Nominees in this category should also be able to demonstrate a clear growth strategy and show how they aim extend their export potential beyond their current position.

SCOTTISH EXPORT TEAM OF THE YEAR

This award recognises a team who has added significant value to the business by implementing a strong and effective export sales strategy. The export team of the year award will recognise a team who can demonstrate significant added value to their business through adopting innovative techniques, personnel development measures, and successful implementation of the companies’ export sales strategy where results are apparent. It should be clear how the company has developed a team wide approach to exporting which may well extend beyond the company to distributors, agents and other third parties who will have contributed to export success.

PROFESSIONAL SERVICE ADVISER OF THE YEAR (New for 2016)

A business that does not export, but plays a key role in supporting exporters to trade overseas either directly or indirectly through providing associated services such as advice and consultancy. The professional service adviser of the year will recognise a company that has demonstrated outstanding achievements in supporting businesses to achieve their exporting objectives. Success should be measured by the advice given and how it directly reflected in export growth. Nominees in this category should also be able to demonstrate how they have consistently made a positive contribution to their clients, quoting examples and case studies and highlighting ways in which their advice has made a significant impact.

LOGISTICS PARTNER OF THE YEAR (New for 2016)

Awarded to a company who provides outstanding customer service and innovation in supporting the Export market in their delivery solutions.The logistics partner award will recognise a company that has demonstrated outstanding customer service and innovation in their delivery solutions allowing exporters to reach their key markets. Success should be measured through their ability to support complex or innovative methods of distribution and delivery whilst adding value. Where possible nominees in this category should also be able to show how their business is focusing on support of new and emerging export markets.

BQ SCOTTISH EXPORTER OF THE YEAR

This award will be presented to a company that has made an outstanding contribution to Scotland's export profile and success. Companies must have demonstrated how they have overcome their barriers when entering new markets. The winner of this award will be selected from the winners of the above award categories and announced on the evening of the awards. (PLEASE DO NOT ENTER INTO THIS CATEGORY)

Once submitted, this entry form constitutes the entrant’s agreement to be bound by the competition rules for the Scottish Export Awards 2016.

By submitting an entry into the Scottish Export Awards 2016 you agree to be contacted by us, our sponsors and associate event partners. If you do not wish to be contacted please indicate on the form as shown. All infomation submitted to the judging panel will be treated with the strictest confidence. All judges will sign a confidentiality agreement and will return all judging material at the end of the meeting.
