Meet the Team

  • When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
    • I always wanted to be a drummer - I still do!
  • If you could host a talk show, who would be your first guest?
    • Eric Morecambe, a comedy genius not seen since
  • If you had a superpower, what would it be?
    • I'd cure all known forms of cancer

Oliver HurcombeOliver Hurcombe
Studio designer

  • When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
    • Batman obviously! Who wouldn't want to be a superhero millionaire?!
  • What fictional world or place would you like to visit?
    • Jurassic park, because how cool would it be to have a pet dinosaur
  • If you had a superpower, what would it be?
    • To control time, then I would able to do everything I wanted, and wouldn't have to worry about a thing.

Suzy Jackson
Senior digital journalist

  • If you could choose any person from history to be your imaginary friend, who would it be and why?
    • I would choose Marlene Dietrich, the German-born Hollywood actress famous for films like Shanghai Express and the Scarlet Empress. Her career is quite something to behold, but her character is legendary and I would love to be able to take life advice from her… a woman who was once arrested for wearing trousers in public, in 1930s America when such a thing was unimaginable!
  • You can have an unlimited supply of one thing for the rest of your life, what is it?
    • I think that would have to be free transport – plane, train, automobile… I love to travel, and I have friends scattered around the UK too, so sometimes it can end up feeling like I should have my salary just paid directly to Cross Country for train tickets!
  • If you could host a talk show, who would be your first guest?
    • I’m lucky that, even without a talk show environment, I do get to interview some really interesting people in my job. Outside of that, I’d choose American wrestling mogul Vince McMahon – I’ve been a wrestling fan (read: geek) my entire life and the tales of Vince and how he operates in business are things of legend, but he’s rarely interviewed outside of his own workplace and I’d love the chance to ask him some fun, and some tough, questions.

Ellen McGann
Digital journalist

  • When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
    • A spice girl, obviously! (Still do)
  • You can have an unlimited supply of one thing for the rest of your life, what is it?
    • Money – then I can use that for an unlimited supply of anything else I might fancy.
  • If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items would you want to have with you?
    • Probably a phone so I could call for help. Then some sun cream and a cocktail – I might as well have a little holiday while I wait to get picked up!

Chris Middleton
Digital journalist

  • When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
    • I wanted to be all sorts of things when I was a kid: an actor, a lawyer, a penguin - and even a journalist!
  • What fictional world or place would you like to visit?
    • I’d visit the planet Pandora from the Avatar movie. It would be like visiting pre-historic Earth, before humans had their way with it. Plus floating mountains, come on.
  • You can have an unlimited supply of one thing for the rest of your life, what is it?
    • Cheese – I don’t think anything more needs to be said.
