Calum Nisbet named IoD head

Calum Nisbet has been named the new regional director of the Institute of Directors West Midlands, succeeding John Phillips who has retired after 23 years.

Nisbet arrives from a business development background gained in a number of sectors and with a wealth of experience of working with corporates and key individuals across the region.

A well-known figure in the business community, he has worked closely with the IoD for a number of years and is already well known to many of their more than 2,000 members.

He is looking forward to the challenges ahead, although well aware that he has a hard act to follow after John’s long and distinguished service.

“I feel very privileged to take on the role that John has developed over the past 23 years,” said Calum. “John has set the bar high, having achieved a number of firsts for the IoD, including first Regional Director, Young Directors Forum and IoD Regional Awards.

“I look forward to building on his successes and working with our local members and business community to ensure that our region goes from strength to strength.”

Dr Jason Wouhra, chairman of the IoD West Midlands, has warmly welcomed the appointment.

“I have known Calum for six years and am delighted that he has agreed to join the team as we enter our next exciting chapter,” Jason said. “He has big shoes to fill but I know he will rise to the challenge.

“His background of engaging with businesses and their leaders across the Midlands, along with his experience in the sponsorship market, will be invaluable to the growth of our region.”
