Harris acquired by Norwegian firm in £55m deal

Bromsgrove-headquartered painting tool firm L.G Harris & C (Harris) has been purchased by Norwegian firm Orkla House Care in a £55m deal.

The family-run firm, founded in 1928, will help Orkla House Care double the size of its operations as a result of the deal.

Harris, which has a factority in Bromsgrove and one in Zhaoquing City, China, employs almost 1,000 workers.

Although the majority of the company’s sales are made in the UK, offering will known DIY brands such as Harris, Lynwood, Harris Victory and T-Class, the firm also has some export business.

Bjørn Drabløs, CEO of Orkla House Care, said: “With well-established brands and solid customer relations, Harris holds a leading market position in the UK.

“Orkla House Care and Harris are a good fit. With the acquisition of Harris, Orkla House Care is significantly strengthening its presence in the UK and expanding its portfolio in the DIY market.”

Orkla House Care supply painting tools in both the Nordic region and to the professional market within the UK, and owns the Jordan, Anza, Spekter and Hamilton brands.
