Launched 18 months ago Cycle Republic, which sells bikes, parts, accessories and clothing, currently has 11 stores across the UK-including Bristol, Manchester, Norwich, Nottingham, Twickenham and across London.
The new store at The Grand will sell a range of premium bike brands including Basso, Boardman and Haibike, as well as a comprehensive range of leading accessory brands such as Pearl Izumi, Gore, Giordana, Bern, Mavic and Kask.
Cycle Republic’s in-store workshop will also offer same-day maintenance and servicing, allowing cyclists to drop their bikes off in the morning and be ready for their commute home.
Peter Kimberly, managing director of Cycle Republic, said: “We’re really excited about our new location in Birmingham. There’s a real buzz about cycling in the city and a growing cycling community.
“We are looking forward to introducing the Cycle Republic experience to the local cyclists.”
A ten-year lease has been agreed with Hortons’ Estate, owner of The Grand, following a £14m investment in restoring the building.
The restored retail space has attracted a number of new occupiers including John Shepherd estate agents, 200 Degrees Coffee, The Alchemist and Gusto, as well as returning tenant Crockett & Jones.
Tony Green, chief executive of Hortons’ Estate, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the response we have received from occupiers interested in taking space at The Grand”.
“With nine of the ten units now let or under offer, we are close to completing the retail element of the scheme and what will eventually be a vibrant retail and leisure destination for the city.”
Cycle Republic is due to open in July.
