The UK’s largest manufacturer of online audio and video jukeboxes, has ‘revolutionised’ its service to clients with a new superfast broadband connection that has increased the company’s upload and download speeds by almost 5,000%.
NSM, which employs 15 people at its head office next to Elland Road in Leeds and another 35 at its manufacturing base in Leicester, is the producer of 5,000 jukeboxes operated in pubs, clubs and other venues across the country. The business also has a network of overseas offices in Europe, South Africa, Australia and the US.
Martin Agabeg, NSM Music’s general manager, said: "There have been recent rapid advances in jukebox technology and the new, highly sophisticated online machines are taking the market by storm.
"There are massive advantages with the new online system - an immense library of around 150,000 tracks can be delivered to clients instantly, instead of the slightly random selection that the old jukeboxes used to offer. However the whole online system requires high speed internet in order to transfer music and video to clients. "
Part-funded by a £3,000 award from Superconnected West Yorkshire, the company’s dedicated fibre optic broadband connection was installed by cloud and networking provider Exponential-e.
Mr Agabeg added: "With our previous broadband speeds, which hovered at around 2Mb, customers would often struggle to download audio and video files from us.
"Now we have consistently superfast upload and download speeds, which has revolutionised our service to clients and will transform our potential for growth in Europe and beyond."
Part of the government’s £100m Superconnected Cities programme, the connection voucher scheme enables small businesses to connect to superfast internet services.
The programme was extended earlier this year to include SMEs across West Yorkshire and Craven, in addition to Leeds and Bradford. More than 2,000 businesses have now been connected, the highest take up of the scheme outside London.
