Business Sheffield delivers business advice and guidance to over 1,000 clients each year and is also working on growth projects with 200 key businesses.
The company is part of Sheffield City Council’s economic development agency, Creative Sheffield, and is responsible for supporting businesses in Sheffield to set up and grow.
This covers everything from supporting local people with a new business idea, to large foreign owned companies invested in the city as well as established businesses wanting to export for the first time.
Business Sheffield was set up in 2014 after Sheffield City Council received feedback that people were confused about which business services were available in the city and who could access them.
Cllr Leigh Bramall, deputy leader & cabinet member for business, skills & development, said: “We listened to people when they told us that there were too many organisations offering too many services, under too many brands. This was making it difficult for us to support businesses in the way they needed.”
He added: “By introducing one contact (through the Gateway Team) rather than several, we’ve made it easier for clients to get the support they need, when they need it.”
Business Sheffield also helps businesses who are looking to expand or relocate. The business growth advisors provide advice on how to shape business growth plans and work with businesses to manage the consequences of expansion as well as sustaining success.
The Invest Sheffield team work alongside Business Sheffield offering specific advice and support to those businesses outside of Sheffield looking to relocate in the city, covering everything from finding the right property, to finance and recruitment assistance.
The services of Business Sheffield and Invest Sheffield are provided by the economic development arm of Sheffield City Council; Creative Sheffield.
The services are all free and confidential and exist to support economic growth within the Sheffield.
