The contract will see the firm create the 75,000 sq ft industrial Unit 5 at Gateway 36 in Barnsley, as part of a drive to address the regional shortage of quality industrial accommodation.
The new development will be the first phase of Harworth’s Gateway 36, which will cover 127 acres in three phases.
JF Finnegan will begin the construction of the unit in March, and are scheduled to complete the project by the end of January 2017.
Gary Smith, managing director at JF Finnegan, said: “The Gateway 36 development is bringing much-needed good quality industrial accommodation to South Yorkshire.
"The shortage of high quality industrial space is well documented and this speculative unit will hit the market at an opportune time.”
Funding for the new unit has come from a loan from the Sheffield City Region (SCR) Joint European Support for Sustainable Investment in City Areas (JESSICA) Fund, which aims to provide regeneration opportunities to meet the European Regional Development Fund’s targets on employment, remediation and floors-pace outputs.
