HS2 'to increase investment in Solihull'

HS2 will act as a major draw for companies looking to invest in Solihull, according to Caroline Spelman, MP of Meriden.

Appearing as part of a panel of key speakers at a Solihull Chamber of Commerce dinner at Solihull College and University Centre, Meriden said the arrival of HS2 would bring “21st century connectivity” to the borough.

Bob Sleigh, leader of Solihull Council, also highlighted the advantages of having the HS2 interchange on Solihull’s doorstep.

He said: “We will be the first people in the UK to feel the benefits of HS2 and we are proud to be its first station.”

Solihull has attracted recent investment, including the Genting Arena at the NEC, chosen thanks to its strong links with the HS2 and the council were praised for work done to improve the town.

“The £500m regeneration of North Solihull has transformed the lives of people who live there,” added Spelman.
