MicksGarage.com finds first English home

An online retailer of car-parts has taken its first mainland UK site at Barnsley’s Goldthorpe Power Park.

MicksGarage.com, which was founded in Ireland in 2004 and now supplies 5.6m product listings to more than 120 countries, has created its first UK distribution centre in England at the park, working in unison with its operations in Dublin, Krakow and Poland.

The new location is seen as a crucial factor in the firm’s expansion plans.

MicksGarage.com sells a wide range of car parts, motoring and leisure accessories to consumers for next day delivery via its website.

Ciaran Crean, chief executive at MicksGarage.com, said: "The UK is our primary market, despite our strong overseas trade, and when we were looking for a strategically positioned mainland unit, South Yorkshire quickly became the best option.

"We see the Goldthorpe unit as a crucial milestone for the company, ten years after we took our first warehouse, and key to our expansion."

The Barnsley unit has been let on a five-year term by the Sheffield office of Knight Frank, on behalf of m-seven, with Wake Smith Solicitors undertaking the legal work for MicksGarage.com.

Paul Gibbon, director at Wake Smith Solicitors, said: "The fact that one of the UK's largest consumer-led car parts eTailers has chosen South Yorkshire as its UK mainland base is a huge coup for the region and recognises the exceptional transport links and strategic value of this area to the logistics industry."
