Yorkshire Payments founder crowned Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year

The founder of Brighouse-based Yorkshire Payments has been crowned BQ's Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year for Yorkshire.

James Howard (31) of Yorkshire Payments, beat off competition from dozens of entries to pick up BQ’s Emerging Entrepreneur award at an awards ceremony held at The Hilton, Newcastle, on Wednesday (22 Feb).

James formed Yorkshire Payments in 2013 and has grown the business substantially in less than four years. He now leads a team of 33 with ambitious growth plans and a projected turnover of £1.7m this year.

James’ vision has remained the same since he started the company, which is to provide safe, secure and efficient payment solutions to a range of businesses across the county.

Bryan Hoare, BQ managing director, said: “Entrepreneurs are at the heart of the economy, so it’s important that we continue to support their ambitions and celebrate their successes.”

James Howard added: “It is an honour to have picked up this award. I started the company at just 28 years old and have experienced my fair share of challenges but I have a great team behind me now and we have exciting plans for the future!”
