TPP signs MoU with Chinese medical firm

The West Yorkshire-based IT firm signed the MoU after joining Theresa May on her recent trade mission to the Far East.

Horsforth-based TPP has signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Hainan-based company, First Chengmei Medical Industry Group.

The signing took place on 1 Feb at the Intercontinental Hotel, Sanlitun in Beijing, alongside planned business events during Theresa May’s official trade mission to China.

The cooperation agreement was signed by Dr Hui-Chi Yeh, director at TPP, and Mr. Zonghua Xu, president of the First Chengmei Medical Industry Group. It was witnessed by Kevin Holland, director of life sciences at the British Embassy, Beijing.

First Chengmei Medical Industry Group is based in the Chinese province of Hainan and specialises in medical care, elderly care and financial investment.

The firm offers a range of medical, management and construction services. The cooperation agreement is for a long-term project that will see the two companies work together to deliver a tailored integrated healthcare platform for electronic health records.

The project will initially focus on system deployment in two districts in Haikou city, with the intention of later rolling out to the whole of Hainan, providing connected care for all citizens of the province.

UK government officials, led by Prime Minister Theresa May, have been on a three-day visit to China this week, visiting Shanghai, Wuhan and Beijing. The trade mission is to celebrate business relations between the two countries and confirm several trade contracts.

Dr Hui-Chi Yeh of TPP, said: “We are delighted to have made this first step in signing an agreement with First Chengmei Medical. Hainan is a very advanced province in terms of healthcare and there are great plans in progress to improve healthcare technology for citizens right across the province.”

Frank Hester, founder and CEO of TPP, said staff were looking forward to getting started on the project: “I’m really excited about this project. Our staff love working in China and this looks like it’s going to be another great opportunity for us. First Chengmei Medical are a fantastic partner for us in Hainan and we can’t wait to begin working together on the first phase.”

Zonghua Xu, president, First Chengmei Medical Industry Group, added “We hope to work with TPP to contribute to fulfilling Hainan’s government policy. The health of the citizens of Hainan is one of the government’s key priorities, as highlighted in the ‘Healthy Hainan 2030 plan’.

“Last year, Hainan Provincial People’s Government also issued a specific national health plan for integration, utilising technology to achieve interoperability across the province and improve the sharing of medical data.

“We plan to work together with TPP to deliver this comprehensive, integrated electronic health record system that can be used across all healthcare settings.”
